✅ Our recommendations: Shopify or Squarespace

Based on the questions you’ve answered, we feel that there are two store builders that would best meet your needs: Shopify or Squarespace.

Shopify

Shopify is easy to use, its general ecommerce capabilities tend to outshine those of most competitors, and although you’ve said you don’t want to sell internationally, its multi-currency selling and automatic tax calculation features give you scope to do that in future should your ambitions change. It’s an extremely scalable solution — and that’s the main edge it has over Squarespace.

Squarespace

Squarespace is a great ‘all-rounder’ platform. Although its selling capabilities are not as strong as Shopify’s, based on your answers to our questions, they are likely sufficient for your needs.

The main edge that Squarespace has over Shopify is its superior ease-of-use and its more flexible content management system — its ‘Fluid Engine’ drag and drop editor gives you a lot more control over the appearance of your site than Shopify does. You also get a lot more web design components in general from Squarespace — galleries, pre-built layouts, form designers and more. The key thing to watch out for however is scalability: because it only lets you sell in one currency at a time, this may restrict your options for expanding internationally down the line.
